China’s National College Entrance Examination (NCEE), or gaokao, is the admission test that all final-year school students in the country must take if they wish to win a place in a Chinese university.
Many international universities now accept the gaokao as part of a student’s application form. If you have taken the gao kao and are considering studying abroad, here is a list of all the universities in Canada that accept the gaokao.
It is important to check all the entry requirements with your university, because most universities will also require additional tests such as English language tests and other high school certificates.
Universities in Canada that accept the gaokao/NCEE results
The minimum requirement for most courses is 85 per cent pass rate, but accepted scores will vary depending on course of study.
No minimum grades are given, but the University of Toronto accepts the gaokao in the prerequisite subjects.
University of British Columbia
The University of British Columbia accepts gaokao results provided by CHESICC or CQV.
Any students who have taken the gao kao must provide the university with a notarised copy of their results. Students must also arrange to have their results verified.
To be considered for Western University, Chinese students must submit their gaokao results as part of their application.
