An online platform has been launched to help international students, PhD candidates and researchers prepare to study abroad in France.
The platform, known as the Online Welcome Desk, offers a detailed and personalised road map for students to complete the steps required to move to France. The platform was previously called the E-International Welcome Office.
The platform can find and tailor the administrative journey for each individual based on their specific circumstances by drawing from a secure and reliable database of information.
It includes information and advice on a range of administrative procedures including visa and permit processes, health insurance coverage, accommodation arrangements, banking services and more.
It is currently available in both French and English and will soon be available in Chinese.
One of the notable features of the Online Welcome Desk is an interactive map that shows the services and amenities available near the chosen university, such as housing options, public transport and administrative offices.

Students can access the platform at any time of the day to find information on frequently asked questions as well as more personalised enquiries.
The platform was created by Université Paris-Saclay in collaboration with Université Numérique d’Île-de-France (UNIF).
It is currently available for Université Paris-Saclay, Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University (UVSQ), University of Evry-Val d’Essonne, AgroParisTech, CentraleSupelec, ENS Paris-Saclay and The Institute for Oil and Gas Sector (IOGS).
The Online Welcome Desk will be made available to other French higher education institutions, and they can customise it to reflect their own services and their own more specific local international welcome initiatives.
For example, the Université Paris-Saclay platform incorporates sections such as “Health insurance”, featuring initiatives by the university’s Student Health Service, as well as a “Welcome to France” section that supplies information on French language classes and the Paris-Saclay GATE welcome desk.
