The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships for students from select developing countries to pursue a postgraduate education.
Applications are accepted from nationals of the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique. Students who live in France, Portugal, UK, US and Canada are also able to apply if they originally resided in one of the above countries and are pursuing development-related studies with no other means of financing their education.
Scholarships are made up of 50 per cent grant and 50 per cent loan and are awarded to students who have no other means to finance their studies. The scholarship provides funding for tuition fees and living costs only.
The foundation gives priority to master’s students, however will consider applications from PhD students who have been recommended by professors and need their PhD in order to fulfil their career ambitions.
Applications from students who have already started their course will not be considered.
This year the foundation will not be accepting applications from students planning to attend universities in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Norway and Ireland.
